Class Levels

Beginner: For new dancers ages 5+. Dancers learn how to count music, basic Irish dance technique, build confidence, and stay at this level until they have learned the light jig, reel, and slip jig.

Novice/Prizewinner: For dancers in the Novice/Prizewinner level at feis and are working on more complex material, including the slow speed treble jig and hornpipe. Dancers are encouraged to attend class twice per week.

Advanced Beginner: When dancers have mastered their three beginner softshoe dances, they begin to learn hardshoe dances - the treble jig (fast speed) and hornpipe (fast speed). Dancers attend class once or twice per week.

Preliminary/Open Championships: For our most advanced dancers preparing for regional, national, or international competitions. Dancers are required to attend class at least twice per week.

Céilí: While other classes focus on solo dancing, this class is exclusively for team dances. This class is offered seasonally, and may be open to all dancers, or may be exclusively for members of a competitive céilí team.
